Some Great Shots!

Here are some great shots.

The one with the cat between the lemurs is real funny. I think it is photo-shopped.

The macho frog can promote California Fitness for Jackie Chan, don't you think?

It's unfair

Life's so unfair for so many people. What happens if you have mortgaged your future - after having made all the calculations and carefully considered all the risks - only to have your means to redeem it taken away?

Our domestic help from Cambodia had arrived just 3 weeks ago, and we have to send her back straightaway. She failed her medical. She's diabetic. Eap, that's her name, must have gone into debt to come to Malaysia and I don't know how she's going to repay that.

And I can only imagine the emotions involved in her first deciding to bet 2 years of her life on a chance for a better future, and then finding that she has lost even before she's begun. What's infuriating is that Eap could have been so easily spared this trauma. It is horribly irresponsible of the employment agency in Phnom Penh to be so negligent in its health-screening process.

First and Second Reunion Dinners of the Social Science Class of 1975

The USM Class of 75 had two dinner gatherings.

The first one was held at the Kelana Seafood Centre in Petaling Jaya on 14 January 2006. Some 30 ex graduates plus 20 guests including our past lecturers attended the function. This was the first time, many of us met our ex-graduate friends since the Convocation at Dewan Sri Pinang in 1975.

I was fortunate to meet friends like Tan Ah Kew,Richard, Kenneth and Rani as well as my good friend Param who is a lawyer today in Prai. I also met Magandram before he migrated to New Zealand. Sheila looked good and has her own law practice and so did Kah Cheng. Sakinah looked just like she was in  USM in 1975. There was hardly any changes in her. Hasnah Rohani was as bubbly as usual.

Before the night was over, we have one fierce kara-oke session.

There was another dinner meet, possibly in 2008. It was held at the Lake Club in Kuala Lumpur.

The crowd was smaller this time and attracted  mostly the Klang Valley crowd. I was fortunate to meet a very prosperous looking Lim Hoon Seng at this dinner-meet.

There was no dinner gathering in 2009.

Anyone who has photographs of this two dinners are cordially invited to send me those photos for blogging or to blog them in themselves.

It's great to go down memory lane!
